Trust Through
Verification..

Every significant gemstone we advise upon carries independent verification from at least one of the world's five foremost gemological laboratories. These are not internal assessments — they are the authoritative third-party opinions that underpin the global fine gemstone market.

GIA

Gemological Institute of America. The originator of the modern grading system and the world's most recognised gemological authority. The GIA report remains the standard reference for diamond and coloured stone certification globally.

GRS

Gem Research Swisslab. Pre-eminent in origin determination and treatment detection for coloured stones. The GRS "No Heat" designation for rubies and sapphires is among the most consequential certifications in the coloured stone market.

SSEF

Swiss Gemmological Institute. Founded in Basel and renowned for its analytical rigour, particularly in the determination of origin and natural colour for the world's finest rubies, sapphires and emeralds.

Gübelin

Gübelin Gem Lab. A standard-bearer since 1923, Gübelin combines scientific excellence with unimpeachable institutional reputation. Gübelin certification carries particular weight for Kashmir sapphires and Burmese rubies.

IGI

International Gemological Institute. Widely recognised for coloured stone assessment, with laboratories in major gemstone trading centres including Antwerp, Mumbai, Bangkok, and New York.

Reading Your Certificate

A gemological certificate is a laboratory's formal report of its findings — not a valuation, not a guarantee, but an expert statement of observable fact. We walk every client through their stone's certificate in full, ensuring that every notation, qualification and comment is fully understood before any decision is made.

Treatment Disclosure

Treatment disclosure is non-negotiable at The Jewel. If a stone has been heated, oiled, filled, or subjected to any enhancement process, the certificate will state it — and we will discuss what that means for the stone's rarity, value, and long-term care. Untreated stones carry a significant premium for documented reasons.

Origin Verification

Origin determination is among the most scientifically demanding aspects of gemology. Laboratories compare a stone's trace element chemistry and inclusion characteristics against reference databases assembled over decades. "Kashmir", "Mogok" and "Colombian" origins are not marketing designations — they are scientific determinations with significant market implications.

Our Transparency Commitment

We share the complete certificate with every client. We explain every qualification. We never present a treated stone as untreated, nor a probable origin as a confirmed one. When uncertainty exists in a laboratory's findings, we communicate that uncertainty explicitly. Your confidence in an acquisition should be earned, not assumed.
